The Universal Preschool Conference and Education Expo offers preschool providers, parents, community and business leaders as well as elected officials the opportunity to discuss, share and explore how to better prepare our children for future successes through a high quality preschool education experience. Friday October 16th and Saturday October 17th, 2009 Friday: 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. Saturday: 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. Los Angeles Convention Center West Hall (side closest to the Staples Center) 1201 South Figueroa St., Los Angeles Self-Parking in West Hall: $12 All workshops will be FREE for you! The LAUP Universal Preschool Conference & Education Expo will be in the West Hall. You can download the full workshop schedule here. Cost (Per Person): Expo Free Admission, both days. Workshops One-day pass:$20 (after Oct. 8) Two-day pass: $30 (after Oct. 8) Luncheons Friday: $20 (after Oct. 8) Saturday: $20 (after Oct. 8) Conference and Expo Package: $60 (after Oct. 8), includes Friday and Saturday Expo, Workshops and Luncheons. Please Note: Childcare will not be provided. Parents There are many workshops tailored for you with topics ranging from “Transition to Kindergarten,” to “Parents’ Rights and Responsibilities” to “The Early Signs of Autism Spectrum Disorders." Teachers and Administrators We have workshops tailored for you that range from an array of pre-school related topics, innovative teaching methods, and learning techniques. The list includes “Inclusion- Creating an inclusive classroom environment,” to “Discovering, Inventing, Constructing, Collaborating- Pathways to Knowledge for the Bilingual Learner,” and many more. In addition, each session of the conference provides professional development hours. If you attend both sessions on Friday and both sessions on Saturday, you will receive a certificate (Professional Development Records of Attendance) at each workshop! Advocates of Early Childhood Education This year we are offering workshops focused from “Building the ECE Movement: Parents, Providers, Politicians and Professional Advocates Working Together," “A Pilot to Improve Child Care Quality in Los Angeles” to “Adventures in Local Advocacy." At our Friday luncheon, we will discuss President Obama’s emphasis and support of early childhood education in America to provide children with the preparation they need to succeed in school and in life. Expo Attend the free expo that features more than 60 educational and entertaining booths with valuable information, resources and give-aways. In addition, the following characters will be the Expo: “Sid the Science Kid," “The Cat in the Hat," and “Choosy." |
